How long have you been at Deerfield?
1 year, 2 months.
What made you choose Deerfield?
I liked the heads-up policy. I liked the way that people said hi to me, and that really stood out against other schools.
Why did you become a STEM teacher?
I’ve always liked math and my parents are engineers, so I grew up knowing that’s what I would do. I didn’t think that I would become a teacher, but I really liked it after being a TA in grad school.
What is your second least favorite area of math?
Topology. My least favorite is high-dimensional topology.
What is a hobby you have that not many people know about?
Staining Glass.
How did you get into staining glass?
I took a job that required me to know how to do it, and then I learned it so I can actually get the job.
If you won the lottery, what is
the first thing you would do?
Pay off my student loans.
Where do you see yourself in 12 years?
Still teaching. Maybe like in Europe? Somewhere more exciting. I would love to live in either the Netherlands or Iceland. I also lived in Hungary, so it would be fun to go back.
