Math Teacher Aaron Duphily started teaching at Deerfield at the start of the 2022-2023 academic year and has significantly impacted the various communities he has been a part of while here. In addition to teaching math, Mr. Duphily was a dedicated coach of the ski team in the winter, traveling with the ski team to Berkshire East each day. Additionally, he coached Girls’ Varsity Rowing this spring, where he worked with a crew of novice rowers to help them acclimate to the sport, encouraging them along the way.
Describing how he ended up at Deerfield, Mr. Duphily said, “I had been in Idaho for four years and was looking for a bit of a change and wanted to be closer to family and friends because I’m from Maine originally.”
Some of Mr. Duphily’s favorite moments and memories throughout his year at Deerfield were the traditions surrounding Choate Week, coaching the downhill ski team, and spending time with his co-workers in the math department, both in and out of a professional context. In terms of plans for the future, Mr. Duphily said that he plans to stray away from teaching and start a career in software or engineering.
